The Comp is ON!

Some pilots got here early and already setup camp.
The winds are a little high but it should get better,
Friday morning we had Aerotow training on the Tandem for a couple of Pilots and this afternoon some pilots have decided to do some practice flying.

Mike Barber is here and will be conducting his XC clinic later in the day.

Good Day at the Ridge

April 6, 2010 at the Florida Ridge-

Good day for some XC here in SW Florida. Winds ESE around 10 mph at the surface and E at 10 mph, altitude 3000 ft. Pilots here were John Souther, Rafael Castro, and Austin Tindle. John and Austin flew XC while Rafael stayed around the field. John flew 5 miles down State road 80 before sinking out and landing in a cow pasture. Austin flew to Labelle, then back to John's LZ for an hour and a half flight. Para-glider pilot David Prentice drove retrieval for the short XC.

Tomorrow's (4-7-10) potential for distance is very good, and hopefully we get some longer flights to brag about.

Here at the Ridge we are looking forward to the upcoming Rob Kells competition this April 17.

With all the top pilots attending plus all the new sport pilots that have signed up, this year's comp will be the largest competition held here at the Ridge.

Along with all the pilots converging here for both the Rob Kells and he Flytec Race and Rally, we will also have about 30 PG Pilots here for the 4th Annual Spring fling starting April 25th. So it will be a Great gathering of those magnificently crazy guys with their flying machines.

We are doing our best to have the grass greenner, the sky bluer and the thermals fatter. All kidding aside, there are some improvements from last year, main one being a real restroom.

Other stuff going on during the comp:

- Mike Barber doing a XC clicnic Friday the 16 and Saturday the 17.

- There will be Wills Wing gliders to demo.

So hopefully we will see you here at the Comp!
